Frequently Asked Questions

How do designs work?

Whether you just have an idea or a full-blown design, Kelsey works with her years of experience in design to incorporate elements of your business, ideas and goals for a cohesive beautiful design that will be unique to you!

What’s the best way to send art files?

  • To send files that are as high quality as possible, start with the original file. PSD, AI files, or even Canva links will work.
  • The next best file is a vector, which is scalable without pixels. Most common file types are .eps, .pdf, and .svg.
  • Raster images should be sent at 300dpi 12” wide or greater. Preferred file types are transparent .pngs or .jpegs
  • For best results, never send a screengrab of a design
  • If specific fonts are preferred, please provide the font name.

What is screenprint?

Many often wonder what the difference between screen printing and digital printing is. The biggest difference is that screen printing is done on a bulk number of shirts one color at a time, while digital presses usually produce a full color print on one item at a time. This can make Direct to Garment (DTG) or Direct to Film (DTF) printing better suited for small batch orders with a high number of colors while screen printing is often more economical for large batch orders with fewer colors.

Although both digital options can be done professionally in a way that lasts over 50 washes, screen printed art often outlives the shirt itself. Although well-loved screen prints can crack slightly after several years (giving them that vintage “distressed” look), the screen printing process helps maintain the original colors longer with less fading and flaking than heat transfer adhered imprints.

For more detail on the screen printing process, check out this explanation from my production partner.

We most commonly use plastisol ink. For more information on inks, click here.

Can I provide my own shirts or promotional products for printing?

No. Provided garments often do not have the same quality or material as those produced for imprint. Due to the liability of damaging provided garments we solely print on items purchased from our standard vendors.

What products can I print on?

We have a multitude of vendors that we purchase blank items from and if you would like to browse options and availability HERE.

How many shirts should I order?

  • Common price breaks are at 15, 25, 35, 50, 75, 100, 150, 200, 300, 500, and 1k+
  • Best values are at 25, 35, and 50 pieces

How is pricing determined?

It is a breakdown of product, colors, number of imprint locations. Note: if you are fundraising with a webstore, you can add a profit-per-item markup.

HOW DO WEBSTORES WORK?

Click HERE for a more detailed explanation on our webstores!

What is the typical timeline for Completion?

After sizing and final proof of artwork has been submitted our printing and delivery takes two weeks. If your order includes embroidery elements this time increases to three weeks.

Pickup? Delivery?

We can do local pickup, in-person delivery, courier or shipping within the United States.

Where do you ship from?

We ship all of our orders from the Richmond VA, where our warehouse is based.

Do you ship internationally?

We only ship within the United States, US territories and US military bases throughout the world.

Can I return an item?

Unfortunately, items are custom made to order and therefore are not returnable. Please choose your sizing carefully and refer to provided product measurements.

However, if there is a defect with your item we process on a case by case basis. You can reach our team at kelsey@2birds.design if there is an issue with your item.

What sizes should I order? How do your shirts fit?

  • Fit will vary by brand and style, sometimes making sizing a guessing game. Below is a general guide, but almost every item has specification sheets with exact measurements that I can provide on request.  Organizers for group orders may request samples if fit is a concern.
  • Most sizes have a numerical “fit,” although many of the sizes overlap with each other. For example, a 24mo infant tee is similarly sized to a 3T. The length of the shirt is often a factor in how it is categorized. Toddler size 4T is similar in width to a Youth Small, but is cut 5-6” shorter!
    • Infant:
      • 6 mo Chest 20, Length 12.5
      • 12 mo Chest 22, Length 13.5
      • 18 mo Chest 24, Length 14.5
      • 24 mo Chest 26, Length 15.5
    • Toddler/Juvy:
      • 2T Chest 24, Length 14
      • 3T Chest 26, Length 15
      • 4T Chest 28, Length 16
      • 5/6 Chest 30, Length 18.5
      • 7 Chest 32, Length 19.5
    • Youth:
      • YXS = 2/4 Chest 22-26, Length 19 – 20.5
      • YS = 6/8 Chest 26-29, Length 21 – 22
      • YM = 10/12 Chest 29-31, Length 23 – 23.5
      • YL = 14/16  Chest 31-33, Length 25
      • YXL = 18/20 Chest 33-35, Length 26.5 – 27 *wider than an adult small but cut with a shorter torso
  • Ladies’ cut fits can also be difficult to decipher. Although some brands fit differently, the usual measurements fall between:
